Helm's Deep is a Gaming Store currently based in the Lakefield Square, Benoni. Primarily, we trade Playstation and other console games at a very reasonable prices. We also support fantasy gaming in any way we can. We host Magic the Gathering tournaments every Friday evenings, as well as most Saturday afternoons. Every Saturday morning a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament takes place. We also regularly host boardgame days, and roleplaying events.

Sundays: Closed We may open for longer hours if an event is taking place. For example, the store is open late on a Saturday if a LAN is taking place, and on the last Sunday of a month from 16h30 until 20h00 for boardgames.
Every console game you bring in is given a rating on a scale of 1 - 10 points. This is calculated using:
The point total of each game brought in is added together to form the total worth of your trade. For example, if you brought in one 5 point game, two 4 point games, and one 9 point game, the total worth of your trade would be 22 (5 + 4 + 4 + 9).
The games on our shelves are classified in exactly the same way - on a scale of 1 - 10 points. If the total points of the games you wish to trade for equal the total worth of the games you brought in, the entire transaction will only cost you R40.00. For example, if you had brought in 22 points worth of games, and you wanted to take one 10 point game, a 9 point game, and a 3 point game, totalling 22 points (10 + 9 + 3 = 22), the transaction would only cost you R40.00. It doesn't matter if you take more games than you originally brought in, the only thing that counts is the total number of points.
If the total value of the games you bring in is worth more than the games you wish to take the cost of your trade will be reduced proportionally. For every extra point that you give to the store, R10.00 will be taken from the cost of the trade. Thus if you give us one extra point, the trade will only cost you R30.00, and if you give us four extra points your trade will be entirely free! For example, if you brought in 22 points worth of games, but only found 21 points of games you are interested in playing, the total cost of the trade would be R30.00. If you only found only 20 points of games, it would cost R20.00. If you eventually decided on taking just 18 points of games, your trade would be free!
If you find games you really want to play, but they are worth more than the total points of the games you brought in, this is not a problem - the trade will just cost a little more (but still far less than buying a new game). Every point that you are short brings the total cost of the transaction up by R20.00. Thus if you want to take 1 extra point of games, the transaction will cost you R60.00, and two extra points will cost R80.00. For example, if you brought in 22 points worth of games, but wanted to take 25 points of trades, the transaction would cost R100.00 (40 + [3 x 20]).
If there is a game you really want, but you don't currently have anything to trade, you can still the game. The process works in exactly the same manner as making up points described in the previous section, only you have brought in zero points. Thus a 5 point game will cost you R140.00 (40 + [5 x 20]).
All the games we have on our shelves at Helm's Deep have been thoroughly tested - we actually have a staff member whose primary job is testing the games (talk about a dream job). Still problems do occassionally slip through our tight net. Should this every happen, don't worry. If you bring the game back within three days of your trade we will either refund you or give you another free trade - whichever you prefer.

At present we do not trade PC games. Legally, when you buy a PC game you actually buy the right to install the game on a single computer. As we cannot guarantee that the game has not been pirated, we simply do not trade PC games.
Absolutely. All the games sold and traded at Helm's Deep are original. We have no time for piracy - it destroys the industry.
We also sell new games at Helm's Deep - including PC Games. If there's anything you're looking for, let us know. We'll do our best to get it for you.
In the case of console games, we can even offer a better deal. Should you buy any game from us, and finish it within three months, you can return in to us, and we'll give you 60% of what you paid off the price of another new game. Alternately, we will trade the game you bought at two points higher than its normal rating - even if its still a 10 point game! We sell games for:
Helm's Deep is more than just a computer and console gaming store - it supports gaming in all forms. We play card games, including Magic The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, Star Wars, Star Trek, the World of Warcraft Card Game. Even the odd game of Pokemon has been known to take place within our walls. We're board game crazy. If you ever long for a game of Settlers of Cataan, Carcassonne, Descent, Warcraft - or our current favourite - Star Craft The Boardgame, pop into the store. We're always up for a challenge. (Have you ever played Fearsome Floors? Brilliant! Quick! I love it.) Are you looking for a roleplaying group. We regularly run games for Dungeons and Dragons, World of Darkness, Cthulhu, Shadowrun and Star Wars.
For those of you who prefer to have a controller or mouse in your hand, we run Tekken tournaments and have regular LANS.
We have held a pre-release tournament for all the blocks since Ravnica.

Helm's Deep runs a UDE sactioned Yu-Gi-Oh tournament every Saturday morning. Most of the tournaments are single advanced in format, but at the last Saturday of the month is usually a tag-team battle.

Helm's Deep, together with Gibbous Moon and Blowfish Entertainment, are proud to host the Yu-Gi-Oh City and Regional Championships for Johannesburg and Gauteng for 2008.
The city championships will be held at Willowmoore High School on the 29 March 2008.
The Regional championships will be held at WIllowmoore High School on the 19 April 2008.

On the last Saturday of every month, Helm's Deep hosts a LAN. Bring your own machine into the store - just make sure its got an up-to-date anti-virus program running (preferably AVG or Avast - we really don't like Nortons as it tends to slow down a machine a bit too much).

Every Friday, before the Magic tournament, we get down to some real fun - beating the snot out of one another in a Tekken tournament. If you're up to the challenge, come into the store sometime after 15h00, and show us your moves.
Entry into the tournament costs R10.00, and you play until you are defeated. You win prizes according to your skill level and how many bouts you've won.
Note: All prize money is given in the form of store credit, which may be used to buy anything at Helm's Deep.
